How to go to Qazvin from Tehran is a question most tourists are looking for it.

There are 3 ways to go to Qazvin from Tehran which is described in details.

1. Bus

The first option to go to Qazvin from Tehran is to take a bus.

Timetable: from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Note: as the bus need to be completely full to leave the terminal, sometimes the last bus is available up to 10 or 10:30 p.m.

Ticket: 80.000 Rials per person
Duration of the trip: With usual traffic, takes 1:45 to 2 hours

Note: With heavy traffic on Tehran-Karaj highway, takes up to 3 hours or more. Usually near evening and on the weekends, Tehran-Karaj highway is jammed with cars because people from Karaj who work in Tehran, come back to their home and on weekends and long holidays, this is the main way to Chalus road and if there are three or four consecutive days off, you might get stuck in traffic for 6 or 8 hours, In another post, I’ll write about these kinds of holidays and what you should do.

Location: Tehran West Terminal (Qazvin station is next to BRT bus station)

If you go to Tehran West Terminal anytime between 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. you can catch a bus. But you need to wait for the bus to be full of the passenger to leave. If you are lucky and arrive when the bus is almost full, you do not need to wait so much, but if you arrive when there are few passengers on the bus, you need to wait 15 minutes to even 1 hour depending on when you want to catch the bus, Usually, very early in the morning or late at night takes more time. The alternative options to go to Qazvin from Tehran are taxis and train.

2. Yellow taxi

More expensive and convenient option to go to Qazvin from Tehran is to take a taxi. If you are in a hurry and you want to arrive earlier, you can consider it. If you pay the price for 4 passengers (730,000 Rials), you can rent it to take you to Qazvin terminal (Note: to take you to your desired place in the city, you need to pay more).

Timetable: 7/24

Note: After 10 p.m., there are very few passengers, so you need to wait too long or agree to pay for empty seats.

Ticket: 220.000 Rials front seat and 170,000 back seats
Duration of the trip: With usual traffic takes 1:20 to 1:40 hours

Note: With heavy traffic on Tehran-Karaj highway, takes up to 2.5 hours or more

Location: Tehran West Terminal

Note: It is not near Qazvin bus station and you need to walk for 5 minutes to find them next to a small mosque inside the terminal. A new mosque is under construction outside the terminal. Don’t be confused.

2.1 Savari

Savari in Iran means a personal car which works as a taxi but it is illegal. Savaris for Tehran to Qazvin are outside the Terminal next to Azadi Square. Their prices are less than those of taxis. They usually work from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Near midnight there are very few passengers from Tehran to Qazvin.

Front seat: 180.000 Rials

Back seats: 150,000 Rials

If you can negotiate, you might be able to convince them to pay 120,000 Rials. While it seems like a good option, the bad thing about Savari is that most drivers speed up to 140 or 150 km and most of them do not drive carefully, so it is not reasonable to use them because of few dollars. As a result, if you want to go to Qazvin from Tehran, this is not a good option.
